Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 10-megapixel digital camera. The FZ50 is the new flagship in Panasonic's big-zoom Lumix range, upping the image size to a class-leading 10.2 megapixels and adding a couple of welcome new features. This camera has closed the gap between fixed lens and SLR cameras further than ever before. Despite a wealth of 'super zoom' competitors it really does sit in a class of its own, offering true SLR-like handling and operation and an amazingly versatile 35-420mm equivalent 12x optical zoom (with fluid-damped mechanical zoom mechanism). This lens is a pleasure to use, and the camera is very light. Uses SD cards. Has a great hi-res through-the-lens viewfinder. This is the best camera I have ever owned.

Here are a heap of photos taken with this model camera.

Apple MacBook Pro 17" Laptop with 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 2Gb RAM and 100 Gb disk, with Mac OS 10.4 Tiger and various photo editing and DVD creation software packages produced by Adobe, Photomatix, ArcView and Apple. Fibre optic DV in/out, dual layer DVD burner, and I also use a DVD on-disc-label printer. I have two external 320Gb HDDs and an extra 80Gb HDD for temp archiving.
